Join textile artist Claire Moynihan to learn the basics of wet felt ball making techniques, using locally sourced alpaca wool, olive oil soap and hot water. To make a perfectly round felt ball is a very therapeutic process and can form the basis of multitude of textiles. After you have a perfect felt ball, you will be introduced to hand 3D embroidery. This technique uses a freestyle form of embroidery and therefore no previous knowledge of embroidery is needed.

Claire Moynihan is a textile artist who is known for her Bug Balls, which are hand embroidered 3D British insects on felt balls, which reference Victorian entomology collections. Her work is held in international collections, is exhibited widely and has been sold in Liberty and Paul Smith. Claire is passionate about insects and celebrating the diversity and importance of insects and the crucial part they play in our fragile ecosystem.
