John Osmotherly

John is an artist and maker with over 20 years experience working in arts education and workshop practice.

After graduating from an Applied Arts degree at the University of Derby, where he was trained in working with wood, metal, ceramics glass and plastics, John has continued to add breadth to his making by incorporating printmaking, fine metalworking and marquetry. Frequently mixing materials he makes anything from fine art to furniture.

Recent works have focused on exploring concepts of value, modernity and antiquity in the subject, object and making techniques employed to produce the work.

A habitual workshop dweller, John is as happy learning as teaching, and happiest doing both at the same time.
