The Festival of Stuff 2024

Four months on from the Festival of Stuff 2024, we're reliving the highlights from this year's making extravaganza.

We put squishiness to the test and rolled, flattened, compressed and coiled metals to our hearts content. Old favourites like silky liquid nitrogen ice-cream making and blacksmithing, joined new activities like botanical casting and smartphone repair.

After years of imagining, planning and building our new Stratford space and how it would be used, it was fantastic to finally welcome thousands of people through our doors.

We brought our new workshop spaces to life through a series of magically mismatched activities, including pewter casting into sand moulds and a pottery wheel challenge. Meanwhile, the outside grounds were christened by a 14-tonne steam roller, and the heights of our balcony were tested with a giant pendulum. The UCL cafe did not escape from the festivities, and generously hosted a Squish Party with all manners of soft and slimy materials.

Looking forward to 2025...

And this year's Festival won't be the last time we welcome you to Stratford. We're already busy planning the Festival of Stuff 2025 - what will next year's event hold?
