Big Make: Papermaking
Member EventsDiscover the basics of papermaking with book artist and papermaker Mandy Brannan in our drop-in Big Make! Mandy says she loves “the endless possibilities of using natural fibres that can be hand beaten, chopped, pigmented, manipulated and pushed 95% of the time – 5% of the time they do their own thing – that’s the nature of natural fibres!" In this session Mandy will explore papermaking through working with Japanese kozo fibres and recycled pulps from found papers, creating experimental paper sheets by combining the two.
Our 'Big Make' sessions are open to all members and teach skills from our specialist masterclasses in a more casual drop-in setting during Makespace opening hours.
Using hand outs and practical teaching as and when required, members can join the Big Make table whenever they want to and produce paper for as long as they would like to and experiment with materials provided and selected by Mandy. You will need a cotton hand towel or flannel for this activity, don't forget them for this drop-in!
