Factory Tour: London Glassblowing Studio

Member Events

Established by Peter Layton in 1976, London Glassblowing is one of the oldest hot-glass studios in Europe. The studio specialises in decorative glassware with a particular flair for the use of colour, form and texture.

Whilst on the tour you will be able to experience the heat and magic of the ancient craft of glassblowing while watching the blowers gather the molten glass which they work and evolve into sculptural and functional objects.

As this studio is small you will be divided into two groups; one will get a glimpse into the studio whilst the other half of the group can ask the gallery assistant any questions and visit shop.

It is not possible to know beforehand what projects the team will be working on the day of the tour, but there will be a chance to see most of the stages of glassblowing and cold working. More information on the processes here, view here
