Festival of Stuff: Afternoon Session - Paper Cord Weaving

Festival of Stuff Member Events Public Events

Join Ann Nazareth to weave a decorative water scoop with paper cord using a simple basketry technique called twining. Once you’ve mastered the basic skills of paper cord weaving you will be able to develop your own ideas for 3-dimensional weaving in ways that will delight and surprise.

Ann’s work is inspired by everyday life and re-interpreting objects by weaving them in paper cord, from the humble teabag to the complete tea set and tray. Her pieces are contemplative and playful, but afford these ordinary objects with new qualities, give them a different kind of value, and begin new conversations about the nature of the object. Ann has always been a maker, acquiring a range of textile skills including knitting, sewing and tapestry in order to create ever more complex pieces from a range of materials.
