Festival of Stuff: Morning - Experimental Fabric Colouring Masterclass
Festival of Stuff
Sometimes a textile printmaker’s worst nightmare is a mixed-fibre fabric. Join master printmaker Faye McNulty to learn the exciting possibilities of polycotton fabrics. You will have chance to learn ways of colouring synthetic threads by painting, screen printing and collaging with specific dyes, and then learn how to manipulate the very structure of the fabric by completely burning away cotton fibres through screen printing.
Faye McNulty is a specialist in textile print and design, consulting and designing for international artists and fashion designers. She develops experimental textiles using traditional techniques and has worked with innovative research centres, such as London Printworks Trust and Textile Futures Research Centre. Faye’s clients include Topshop, Victoria Beckham, Yinka Shonibare, Alexander McQueen and Kenzo.
