Member Online Workshop: Materials Library Drawing

Member Events

As part of our mission to help you get up close and personal with the fabric of your home, we are hosting a Materials Library drawing session, where you will draw and contemplate materials with Institute of Making Director Zoe Laughlin and Materials Librarian Sarah Wilkes.

Exercises will include quick-fire drawing with a ‘spinning surprise’ from Zoe’s personal materials collection, as well as drawing by feel and by sight only to explore how shutting down one of your senses affects your perceptions and draughtmanship.

No experience or skill necessary, all welcome!

To take part in the session you will need:

-       3 materials or objects from around your home.
-       Something to draw with (whatever drawing materials you have).
-       Something to draw on (there’s no right or wrong medium: a pad of paper, back of an envelope or inside a cereal packet).

You will need to register as a member of the Institute of Making in order to book this workshop, which is open to all staff and students at UCL. Once registered, you will be able to book places on our online events and activities, and you will receive email notification of upcoming events and news.
