Festival of Stuff: Crazy Materials Golf
Festival of Stuff Public EventsBring your A-game and your love of materials to our ultimate Festival of Stuff Saturday Extravaganza.
This year we're taking our love of mini golf as the starting point for a whole host of great making and materials related activities. We are also building a special mini golf course, where holes will pose all manner of material challenges in true Institute of Making style.
The day will include activities such as the art of spherification, the craft of pencil making, the science of sand and grass, and the chance to perfect your aim with the physics of optics and angles. Where else would you get the chance to play mini golf holes that showcase the terrific properties of lasers, wood, velcro, mirrors, liquids, invisibility, tubes, synthetic fur, books, bathtubs, microscopes and much more? There will also be a refreshing 19th hole where you can compare scores and toast the achievements of the day.
Our summery festival will once again fill the street outside the Institute of Making, filling it with crazy materials golf madness, mind-boggling demonstrations, exciting making stations and surprising food stalls. As always, the Institute of Making will be open to the public on the day, giving visitors the opportunity to have a glimpse of the Materials Library and its wondrous collection of stuff. All this and much more will be at our Saturday Extravaganza for exploring, creating and turning on its head.
Free, open to all, drop in from 1pm, gates close at 5pm.
