Public Online Workshop: Materials Library Drawing

Public Events

As part of our mission to help you get up close and personal with the fabric of your home, we are starting a new Materials Library drawing session. Carve out an hour on a Monday afternoon to come together to draw and contemplate materials with Institute of Making director Zoe and the Materials Librarian Sarah Wilkes.

Exercises will include quick-fire drawing with a ‘spinning surprise’ from Zoe’s personal materials collection, as well as drawing by feel and by sight only to explore how shutting down one of your senses affects your perceptions and draughtmanship.

No experience or skill necessary, all welcome!

To take part in the session you will need:

-       3 materials or objects from around your home.
-       Something to draw with (whatever drawing materials you have).
-       Something to draw on (there’s no right or wrong medium: a pad of paper, back of an envelope or inside a cereal packet).
