UCL-Wide Activity: Communal Coil Pot
UCL-Wide EventJoin this event
We are testing activities for our public programme, and invite everyone in the Marshgate and Pool Street buildings to drop into our Stratford Space to help make a large pot out of clay coils. We'll show participants how to roll out clay coils and then teach you to smush and smooth these onto our communal creation. What heights will the collective coilers reach?!
What to expect
- Come to the Institute of Making ground floor entrance in the Marshgate Building, Stratford, between 12-2pm to join in.
- Taking part in this activity could be as quick as five minutes end-to-end, although if it is busy there may be a queue (and if it is quiet you might want to keep on coiling for longer!)
- Though the activity is relatively clean, your clothes may get slightly dusty and you will need to wash your hands afterwards.

Attendee information
- This event is open to everyone at UCL. You don't need to be a member of the Institute of Making or to have any previous ceramic training or experience in order to join in.
- As with all clay work, coiling works best when your fingernails are nice and short, although this isn't essential.
