How to access this tool
Drop-in use
Drop into the workshop during our opening hours to use this tool, but ask a technician if you need any training first.
Key information
Green tools are our general-use tools. These have either been demonstrated or explained in your New Member Induction, or are safe for use after a demonstration by a technician. Always ask a member of staff before using any green tools for the first time, or if you are not sure how to use these safely.
This tool uses a rotating cylinder of sandpaper to sand round edges and interior curves. The cylinder rotates and oscillates up and down along the axis of the spindle, and has interchangeable cylinders to suit different workpiece sizes.
Please note
This machine should not be used to remove large sections of material.
This machine can only be used with woods (no green wood).
What can I use this tool for?
A bobbin sander is perfect for sanding smooth edges on curved forms and inside holes. It can be used for applications that are not possible with the belt sander because of its more targeted size.
Materials used with this tool
- Woods only - No green wood
What training do I need to use this tool?
General use of the bobbin sander is covered in the New Members Induction. Do not hesitate to ask a member of staff before using the bobbin sander if you require a refresher after your induction.
