Key information
Green tools are our general-use tools. These have either been demonstrated or explained in your New Member Induction, or are safe for use after a demonstration by a technician. Always ask a member of staff before using any green tools for the first time, or if you are not sure how to use these safely.
A hand belt sander is a handheld and versatile tool for sanding woods. It consists of a continuous abrasive belt that is driven by an electric motor.
Please note
Belt sanders should not be used to remove large sections of material.
This machine can only be used with woods (no green wood).
Ensure the sander is connected to an extraction system when in use.
What can I use this tool for?
Belt sanders are designed to quickly remove material in order to flatten rough timber, level uneven surfaces and to shape and round material. They can remove material quickly and are normally used only for the beginning stages of the sanding process to rough out the surface before using finer sanding techniques.
Hand belt sanders are particularly useful for projects that are unusual shapes that are hard to access with a static machine.
