Drop into the workshop during our opening hours to use this tool, but ask a technician if you need any training first.
Key information
Green tools are our general-use tools. These have either been demonstrated or explained in your New Members Induction, or are safe for use after a demonstration by a technician. Always ask a member of staff before using any green tools for the first time, or if you are not sure how to use these safely.
Our mini disc sanders are versatile tools for sanding wood, soft metals and plastics that consist of a continuous abrasive disc that is driven by an electric motor.
They have tilting tables up to 50° downwards and 10° upwards to allow sanding on an angle. The machines can also be secured both horizontally (with its table) on the workbench, and also quickly and safely in a vertical position. They have adapters to connect a vacuum cleaner for dust-free working.
What can I use this tool for?
Suited to sanding wood, metal and plastics for small and fine applications and projects. Mini disc sanders are designed to quickly remove material in order to flatten rough timber, level uneven surfaces and to shape and round material on particularly small workpieces that would be difficult to do on larger machines.
They can remove material quickly and are normally used only for the beginning stages of the sanding process to rough out the surface before using finer sanding techniques.

What training do I need to use this tool?
Once you have completed a New Members Introduction, you can use this tool on a first-come-first-served basis.
If you would like advice on how to use it, come to the workshop during opening hours and work out a time to be shown with one of the technical staff.
